Superintendent Message
Dear Families and Community Members,
As we begin the final chapter in this year’s series of messages for the District Newsletter, it is hard to believe that another school year is quickly drawing to a close. As with the completion of another year, there are some goodbyes to pass along at this time. This year will be the final year for three district employees totaling over 100 years of experience. They are Special education teacher Kristy Cox, English teacher Dan Votaw and Music teacher Deb Fonner. They have provided tremendous services to the district and will be sorely missed. We wish them only the best in the next step of their future.
We have a busy summer ahead of us in the district. Normal summer projects will continue to happen this summer with classroom and hallway cleaning as well as fresh paint being applied wherever necessary. We will be looking at improvements to our DAHS media center as well as safety upgrades to the HVAC system, exterior building sidewalks, and exterior door replacements. As always, these projects are funded out of the permanent improvement fund or safety grant oppotunities that can only be spent on these long lasting building/ structure projects.
It has truly been an honor and a privilege for me to serve in the district as superintendent of schools the last 11 years. I would be remiss if I didn’t say thanks to all of the stakeholders of the Lisbon School District, from students to staff to parents and community members alike for making this year a very enjoyable one. I could never have imagined a better place to work and live than Lisbon and for that I am deeply grateful.
Lastly, by the time you read this, graduation ceremonies will have been held in the George M. Nace gymnasium as we celebrated the 155th graduating class of David Anderson High School. There are a lot of exciting things happening in the District and we look forward to your continued interest in the future of the school district and encourage you to keep up with what is going on through the Newsletter and District web page. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about your schools.
Yours in Education,
Joe Siefke
