Fourth-grade students at McKinley Elementary are partnering with an area business for a problem based instructional unit.
Thursday, January 16, 2020, kicked off the Pork to Fork Unit. Fourth graders are learning more about where their food comes from and also learning how a business operates.
Students will engage in critical thinking, will create branding, such as company names, designing company logos on a 3D printer, and create other promotional tools.
The problem based instructional unit is through a 21st Century Learning Grant through the Columbiana County Educational Service Center. Silver Apple, is also part of the problem based instructional unit. Silver Apple is a team that establishes an industry/education movement leveraging the power of businesses as a "forcing function" to influence learning in the classroom through relevant, applied, and interdisciplinary instructional methods that are in alignment with State Standards.
