Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge

Scholastic summer reading

Dear Parent or Caregiver,

Did you know that when kids read over the summer they are more likely to leap ahead when they return to school? This is often called the “summer leap,” and our school has made it a priority to keep our students’ skills sharp by encouraging them to read all summer long.

Our school has signed up to participate in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge, a free online reading program that invites children to log their reading minutes all summer. The goal is for the students in our school to read the most minutes possible in an effort to receive recognition and a mention in the 2018 Scholastic Book of World Records. With your help, we can do it! Last year the students at Lisbon Exempted Village School District read more than any other school district in the state of Ohio.  We would like to repeat that this year! Also every student who reads 600 minutes or more will earn a free book ($7.50) at the Scholastic Fall Book Fair in September.
